Taken during the Nat Geo Santa Fe Photography Workshop at Eaves Movie Ranch. I swear this gentleman knew as much about the settings for natural light portraits as the Nat Geo photography pros teaching this class. This 'cause he'd been photographed SO MANY times by so many students. If this wasn't my favorite photo of the workshop it was certainly in the top two. But how can you go wrong with a blue-eyed cowboy?

Built in 1750 it is purported to be the longest covered walk-way of its kind in the world. There are more than 14,000 different pictures painted on its beams and crossbeams. During Mao's Cultural Revolution the locals were ordered to destroy or permanently deface it, but they instead disguised it in whitewash which was removed after Mao died.

During the picnic following a wedding ceremony held along the banks of the Potomac River, I happened to look over and see this young girl taunting her uncle. I knew if I was patient, there would be an opportunity for a great photograph. And there was.

The routine was: climb a little, stop to gasp for oxygen, take a few photos, climb a little more, stop for oxygen, repeat. The hope for a great view kept me moving. I was not disappointed.
